End-of-financial-year archive clean-out
EOFY is when Melbourne offices clear last year’s working papers, closed client files and surplus archives. A planned clean-out keeps storage costs down and supports Privacy Act disposal duties. Australian Waste Management can collect sealed bags, empty locked bins or attend site for bulk boxes—then destroy the paper off-site and provide a certificate of destruction.
Plan the clean-out in four steps
- Set a retention cut-off. Keep only what tax law, your professional body or client contracts still require. Mark the rest for secure destruction.
- Box or bag by sensitivity. Ordinary cardboard can go on recycling. Confidential paper belongs in tamper-evident bags or a locked bin—not an open skip.
- Pick the collection method. A few cartons: bags from $79. Regular overflow: locked bins from $199 per bin per year (+ $79 delivery). Stacks of archive boxes: site attendance from $99.
- File the certificate. Keep the certificate of destruction with your EOFY records and privacy compliance notes.
What we accept
Paper files, archive boxes, binders and typical office stationery (staples and clips are fine). Ask us before sending large volumes of non-paper media. Destruction is off-site at a secure facility using NAID AAA-compliant processes; we do not offer mobile shredding trucks.
Timing tips
- Book early in June or just after 30 June—July is busy for accountants and bookkeepers.
- Check coverage for your suburb across Greater Melbourne, Greater Geelong and Bacchus Marsh.
- Combine the clean-out with starting a locked bin if staff will keep generating confidential paper year-round.
